Meet Bill Barrow, the founder of Fundy Winds Marsh. Retired from Canadian Wild Life Service he purchased 50 plus acres on the Chignecto Isthmus, with the help of Ducks Unlimited Canada it was restored to freshwater marshland and a registered as Conservation Easement Property. Fundy Winds Marsh is managed by Fundy Winds Society as a non-profit organization since 2017. In 2024 Fundy Winds became a registered charity.
Fundy Winds Marsh provides trails on the dykes overlooking the marshlands, which provide habitat for various species of upland waterfowl, birds, moose, deer and other animals. There is a perimeter trail that allows for vistas over the marsh pastures of our neighbours, and through our woodland area. Our shelter area in the middle of Fundy Winds Marsh offers an obstacle course for our youth visitors, and an area to provide instruction on outdoor education topics as they tie into curriculums for local schools, or various local community groups.
An observation tower and deck provides opportunity to overlook the freshwater marsh.
Fundy Winds Society also offers a bursary to a Cumberland County graduating student going on to study environmental sciences or similar areas of study.
At Fundy Winds Marsh, we are open to the public at no charge during daylight hours throughout the year. We work hard to maintain trails and accommodate groups. We ask groups to reach out and book your times with us to ensure the areas you are interested in using for your group are available.
